To ensure the transport of key winter materials, the national railways implemented a new freight train operation schedule starting October 11. By optimizing the structure of some mainline train services and adding more than 60 ordinary freight trains on lines such as the Jining-Tongliao Railway and Yanzhou-Shijiusuo Railway, the capacity of major freight corridors has been effectively enhanced, laying a solid foundation for the continued supply of winter thermal coal.
At the same time, the railway authority has utilized heavy-duty railways such as the Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway, Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway and Watang-Rizhao Railway, increasing the frequency of 10,000-ton trains and ensuring the smooth operation of direct, bulk transport trains across different regional railway authorities. As of now, the thermal coal stockpiles for the 371 railway-supplied power plants nationwide are sufficient for more than 34 days of consumption.
Currently, northern China has entered the heating season, and the peak demand for electricity and coal is still ongoing. The railway system will fully leverage the advantage of the nationwide "one network, one strategy" to focus on the fulfillment of medium- and long-term coal contracts, ensuring the stable supply of coal to key regions during critical periods. It will also refine emergency response plans to minimize the impact of extreme weather and other emergencies on transport, taking multiple measures to ensure a stable and warm winter for the people.
